This subgenre of electro house is characterized by frenetic vocal chops, off-kilter rhythms, and warped basslines that favor syncopation over the smoother four-on-the-floor consistency of other house or techno. While the original name (first coined as a joke in the late 2000s) has since faded from use past its brief heyday, the sound of Fidget House continues to shape contemporary genres like bass house, future house, and bass music at large.
