Flamenco

Flamenco samples encompass fingerpicked nylon-string guitar riffs, intricate hand clap rhythms, cajon and frame drum patterns, foot-stomped grooves, and passionate vocal phrases rooted in the "cante jondo" tradition. The art form emerged in the Andalusian region of southern Spain, drawing from the musical cultures of the Romani people, Moorish Andalusia, and Spanish folk song over centuries of cross-cultural exchange. The defining rhythmic system of compás, built on asymmetric twelve-beat cycles, and frequent use of the Phrygian mode give flamenco a harmonic and rhythmic identity unlike any other Western musical tradition.
