Oliver is a multi-platinum music producer, sound designer, DJ, and mix engineer.
Known for both his original work as well as his productions alongside leading artists, Oliver’s recent cuts include Latto’s “Big Energy,” Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Her,” Khalid’s “Softest Touch,” LU KALA’s “Hotter Now,” and more. In 2018, he was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Engineered Album, Non Classical for Chromeo’s Head Over Heels.
As a sound designer, Oliver has created four Splice Sounds sample packs in his Power Tools series, which have all topped the Splice charts—check out this playlist of songs featuring his samples:
The challenge
We’re partnering with Oliver to launch a production challenge where the winner will receive $1,000 USD, an opportunity to collaborate directly with him, and more.
To enter, create a sample pack of your own original sounds and loops, and upload them to Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. There are no restrictions to the number of samples in your sample pack; however, you’ll be judged on quality over quantity. Lean on your skills as an instrumentalist, vocalist, or sound designer with an ear towards catchy loops. Drum design is not necessary, but is welcome.
Then, make a demo track using your sounds plus five samples from Oliver’s Collection, which you can find in the #battle-announcements channel on the Splice Discord. Your track cannot exceed one minute in length. Lastly, submit your track and pack via the link in the same Discord channel.
You’ll have until 11:59 p.m. EST on August 2nd, 2024, to submit your track and pack. Once the submission period has ended, voting will open. You must vote for three other submissions between 12:00 a.m. EST on August 3rd, 2024 to 6:00 p.m. EST on August 5th, 2024. Only participants will be allowed to vote, and If you do not vote for three other submissions, you will be automatically disqualified.
Oliver will choose three winners via livestream from the top ten tracks after voting is complete—stay tuned for the date.
Prizing
The first-place winner will receive $1,000 USD and be considered to contribute to the next Oliver pack—which means your sound could be on the Billboard charts—or work with Oliver on a session. This will be chosen at Oliver’s discretion. The second-place winner will receive $500 USD, and the third-place winner will receive $250 USD. You must link your Splice account to Discord to be eligible to win.
