How to level up your melodic loops

With powerful resources like Splice Sounds, musicians today have access to more high-quality melodic loops than ever before.

However, creating your own ideas from scratch is still (and always will be) an integral part of the creative process. In the video above, iBEENART shares key techniques for leveling up your original melodic loops by walking through two examples, step-by-step. From sound selection (for which he uses Arturia’s V Collection and Analog Lab) and sound design to melodic contour and harmony, various perspectives are examined that all come together to create the perfect loop.

That said, regardless of the specific topic that’s being discussed, iBEENART leans into one overarching concept that ties it all together: the importance of embracing simplicity. “I’m not trying to be Mozart or Beethoven on the keys,” he laughs. “Keep it simple. [We’re] just trying to get an idea out.”
