Create now has three ways to help you build tracks faster—read on to find out how.

You asked, we listened. With this game-changing new premium feature, you can now use Create to bring your own loops to life—and conquer beat block for good.

Upload your own instrumental, drums, or vocal loop, and Create will serve up fresh Stacks of compatible sounds from our extensive catalog of high-quality, musician-made samples—all in perfect time and harmony. Instantly discover and audition Splice loops from all instrument groups (bass, drums, synths, vocal chops, and more) that are intelligently selected to match your own track’s vibe, key, and tempo. Add, swap, delete, and mix up to eight layers, and then save, share, or export your new Stack as stems or as a DAW project file to keep honing your next hit.

Three ways to sketch out new musical ideas with Create

Level up your workflow with Create, your sample matchmaker. Wanting to dig deeper into Splice’s vast catalog and instantly hear our loops in context? Struggling to finish a track? Want to see what it would sound like with a fresh groove, new instrumentation, or a different style? With Create, you can sketch out your musical ideas faster than ever by instantly auditioning endless combinations of compatible Splice loops.

There are now three different ways you can start a Stack in Create. Start with whatever inspires you: choosing your favorite genre, browsing Splice’s catalog—and now, adding your own loop.

1. New: Start with your own loop

Select “Start with your loop” in Create and drag and drop your own one, two, four, or eight-bar audio loop (max 30 seconds in length) into the dropzone from your DAW or desktop. Confirm it’s your own loop and hit upload (note: Splice will never share your sounds or use your sounds to train AI models—your uploaded audio is used exclusively to help you find compatible sounds from the Splice catalog).

Powered by Splice’s AI tech, Create will analyze your loop and ask you to confirm your loop’s instrument(s) with the option to select a particular genre—or roll the dice with the “All Genres” option. From there, you can either click “Add layers myself” or “Suggest layers for me.” Create will then show you a custom Stack of compatible audio loops from our catalog. Refresh your Stacks as many times as you like before saving—with over 1.4 million loops to choose from, you’ll never run out of inspiration.

2. Start with a Splice loop

Find your spark in seconds by browsing our catalog for a loop you love. Click the “Create a Stack” icon and a sidebar will open up to reveal a Stack of compatible sounds. This feature is particularly useful if you’re looking to get a new idea going and are circulating through a grip of sounds that you’ve already liked or added to a Collection.

3. Start with a genre

We built Create so you can dive deep into the Splice catalog quickly, and a great way to do this is by starting a Stack from our most popular genre options—Hip Hop, House, EDM, Trap, Soul, Pop, and more. Pick your preferred genre for the moment and Create will instantly generate a new Stack for you with loops from that specific genre. If you’re feeling lucky, you can always select “All Genres” and get a combination of sounds from across the whole catalog.

Shape your sound in seconds

Once you’ve gotten your Stack, you can add, swap, delete, and mix up to eight layers of instruments from the Splice catalog including chords, leads, guitar, bass, synths, drums, vocals, and more. Mute, solo or delete layers, change the genre, or adjust the volumes and BPM. The key detection feature will tell you what key you’re in.

Keep creating in your DAW

Once you have your Stack dialed, click “Save” and our automatic name generator takes care of naming the Stack for you (or you can add your own name), and your saved Stack will be added to your Stacks library.

To export, you must own all samples in a Stack, which you can get with your credits before you export. Bounce it down as a stereo .wav file or as original unmodified samples, or use the Stems export option to download the modified samples—complete with pitch and tempo shifting—straight to your computer to keep creating wherever you work best.

From there, just drag and drop from your system file browser into your DAW. There are also export options for Ableton Live and Studio One, where Stacks open in those DAWs exactly as they appeared on Splice—volume levels included. Stacks are exported as 16-bit / 48 kHz files. Your Stack is available anywhere you use Splice—on the web, on Desktop, or on-the-go with the Splice mobile app.

Sync Stacks to your DAW with Bridge

Did you know that you can auto-sync Stacks to your DAW project using Bridge, our plugin that comes free with all Splice plans? This huge creative unlock allows you to build Stacks on top of existing tracks while in your DAW.

First, load the Bridge plugin on a MIDI channel in your DAW, and then open Splice Desktop. Your Stacks will play at the same tempo as your DAW, though Bridge doesn’t match Stacks with the key of your DAW session just yet. We recommend working with samples that are in key with the project in your DAW, and key matching will be available in a future update.
