Yaeji is a DJ, producer, and vocalist whose music seamlessly moves between club culture and introspective pop.
Known for hits like “Raingurl,” “booboo,” and “For Granted,” Yaeji has been featured on Charli xcx’s 2019 album, produced remixes for Dua Lipa and Robyn, collaborated with the beloved Seoul-based polymath OHHYUK, sold out multiple headlining worldwide tours, and launched her bespoke lifestyle website JI-MART.
In the video above, Yaeji gives music creators a glimpse into her production process by making a track from scratch in Ableton Live. Watch as she starts with a sample of her sewing machine, and then builds on it with tools like XO, Omnisphere, and the Splice x Ableton integration. Once she establishes an instrumental foundation, she rounds out her track with her signature soft-spoken but energetic vocals. Throughout the entire process, she emphasizes the importance of exploring new workflows, embracing happy accidents, and having fun in the moment.
