Midlands-based record label Technique Recordings was established in 1999 by Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith and Andy Wright of Drumsound in order to provide a fresh vehicle for their projects in jungle and drum and bass.
Today, Technique Recordings is recognized as one of the UK’s longest-running drum and bass labels, with major tracks and artists from across the globe under their belt. Respect for Technique in the industry is immense, as is the support from the major DJs in the scene.
The challenge
We’re partnering with Technique Recordings to give you the chance to remix “Jungle Tekno” by Drumsound & Bassline Smith, win up to $1,000, and have an opportunity for your remix to be released on the label.
How to enter
To enter, listen to the track above and download the stems and five free samples from the #battle-announcements channel on the Splice Discord. From there, get creating—note that you must incorporate the provided samples, and your remix’s length must be between 1:00 – 2:00.
You’ll have until 6:00 p.m. EST on June 12th, 2024 to submit your track via the Splice Discord. Once the submission period has ended, voting will open. You must vote for three other submissions between 6:00 p.m. EST on June 12th, 2024 to 6:00 p.m. EST on June 16th, 2024. Only participants will be allowed to vote, and Technique Recordings will choose three winners from the top ten tracks after voting is complete.
Prizing
The first-place winner will receive $1,000 USD and the possibility of having their remix released on Technique Recordings. The second-place winner will receive $500 USD, and the third-place winner will receive $250 USD.
