CNTRL Tour: Artist Perspectives on Collaboration & Technology – Interview

Richie Hawtin’s second edition of CNTRL tour came to a close after traveling to cities all across The United States and Canada this past month. Over the course of two weeks, Richie Hawtin along with Chris Liebing, Dantiez Sanuderson, Dubfire, Ean Golden, Francoise K, Grimes, Justin James, Lee K, Marc Houle, Matador, Mateo Murphy, Matrixxman, Matthew Dear, Blue Hawaii and Victor Calderone held discussions at prominent universities during the day. In these discussions they explained their craft and held open conversations with attending students about music production, live performance, technology, touring and what’s in store for the future of electronic music.

In this video, Splice talks with participating CNTRL Tour artists about their own unique perspectives for music creation through collaboration and technology. Learn why collaborating can be an invaluable part of the learning process and how it can help you to discover new techniques you can apply to your own projects.

As a music technology partner, Splice was present on the tour along with companies like Livid, Little Bits, Native Instruments, Pioneer, Roland and SubPac. Each day during the tour, attending producers got a chance to visit our booth and  collaborate on a track using Splice. There were more that 130 collaborators who participated and you can listen to the results in the project below. You can also sign up for Splice and download the project below to open in your DAW and create your own version.

Special thanks to everyone who visited our booth and collaborated with us during the 2015 Richie Hawtin CNTRL Tour!
