P2J and Jamilah Barry on DUOTONE, collaboration, and more

DUOTONE is our new series in partnership with COLORS that celebrates the collaboration between music producers and artists.

The second release in the series features producer P2J and vocalist Jamilah Barry—hear her performance of “If The Love Goes,” the track they created together that features sounds from TONE Vol. 2 by P2J:

In the interview video above, P2J and Jamilah Barry sat down with us to discuss the details of their collaboration, approach to creativity, and more.

“During the process, we were like, ‘Oh… I think there was like a Michael Jackson moment; there was a Sade moment,” Jamilah tells us as she reflects on their sessions. “I was just like, ‘How does it make me feel?’ And we just went from there.”

“It was super organic,” P2J responds. “I couldn’t stop playing it as soon as we finished.”
