How to make UK drill with a power drill (free stems and MIDI files included)

Today, we’re going to learn how to turn the whirring of a handheld power drill into a moody UK drill track.

You may think this is an April Fools joke, and that’s because it is – but we’re also going to do it for real. In the video tutorial above, we walk through how to apply processing to drill sounds (you can either record your own or use a sample) to turn them into synth pads and percussion one-shots that reflect the aesthetic of UK drill.

Follow along and create your own production from scratch, or download the MIDI files and .wav stems from the tutorial and use them as a starting point.
