Splice hires General Counsel, Stacey Lager

Splice has announced the appointment of its first General Counsel, Stacey Lager.

An accomplished business affairs and intellectual property executive, Stacey has spent the last 15 years working for some of the world’s most influential media companies, including NBCUniversal, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and most recently Discovery, where she led the successful launch of the company’s Discovery+ streaming service earlier this year.

Joining Splice marks a full-circle moment for Stacey, who started her career in the music industry with artist development and marketing roles at major labels before pivoting to the legal side.

“When I started my career, the relationship between the technology and music industries was adversarial. But, over the years, technology has provided tools to creators that foster collaboration and inspire them to push boundaries with their music,” Stacey says. “I’ve spent the last ten years of my career transitioning traditional business models into digital / direct-to-consumer businesses, and I’m excited to see what I can do for a digital-first company like Splice. There’s so much possibility, and Splice has broken the construct of what traditionally has been done in music. I look forward to tapping into my experience and helping it reach its full potential.”

Stacey will report to Splice CFO Ben Tanen, who said, “We’re excited to have Stacey join the company; her expertise will be invaluable to the future of Splice as we continue to build the essential ecosystem for creators everywhere.”

Stacey holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and she received her JD from New York Law School.
