Supercharging creativity: Splice acquires Spitfire Audio

Splice and Spitfire Audio are now under one roof. Two pioneers in music creation are joining forces to build the future with richer sounds, smarter tools, and endless possibilities—and this is only the beginning.

You heard that right: Splice is joining forces with Spitfire Audio, the leading UK-based company that’s home to premium orchestral libraries crafted alongside the likes of Hans Zimmer, Ólafur Arnalds, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and Abbey Road Studios. Both companies have played a transformative role in defining the music creation landscape since their inception, making high-quality sounds more accessible for creators everywhere. Now, we’re coming together to build innovative new products that will support even more creators.

Imagining the future of music creation

Spitfire Audio co-founder Paul Thomson and Splice CEO Kakul Srivastava met up this past weekend at London’s iconic AIR Studios—where Spitfire recorded their first libraries—to reflect on the journey so far and share their excitement for what’s next.

“We have such a shared passion for the creators we serve; our values match,” says Srivastava. “One of the things that I’ve been learning about our customers is that they want more creative control, and they want Splice and the sounds that we have deeper in their workflows. We’ve been thinking about all of the different ways to do that, and when I think about Spitfire, the tools that you’ve built, the user experience, the creative control you’ve given users—making these accessible to the Splice community will be very powerful. And most important is what we can build together—in the next six to nine months, we’re going to see some really cool new stuff coming out.”

“First of all, I’m not going anywhere; I’m really excited about the future and what we’re going to be able to build together,” says Thomson. “Since I first started writing music commercially, my two passions have always been creating sounds for me to use in my own music and the actual composition work itself. So, I’m going to enjoy doing more composition work and getting fulfillment from that creativity, but I also love making sample libraries and musical tools that people can use to express their own creativity. They’re both equally important to me. We’re still going to be providing perpetual license products.”

A glimpse into what’s to come

Splice and Spitfire Audio have each built platforms grounded in high-quality sound, innovative software, and a belief that technology can unlock new levels of creative expression.

Bringing Splice and Spitfire Audio together isn’t just about offering more sounds; it’s about helping creators find the right sound at the right moment, whether that’s a kick one-shot with the perfect amount of punch or a lush string quartet that brings a scene to life.

In the near future, we’ll be bringing the best of both companies to more creators and more workflows around the world:

  • Greater access to Spitfire Audio’s cinematic-grade instruments through Splice’s Rent-to-Own platform—coming soon!
  • New product innovations that blend sampling, scoring, and ethical AI-assisted creation.
  • A platform that spans the complete spectrum of sound, from the timeless textures of the BBC Symphony Orchestra to the latest samples from boundary-pushing producers.

This partnership lays the foundation for the next generation of creative tools: by pairing Splice’s ethical AI-powered discovery engine with Spitfire Audio’s world-class sound engine, we’re setting the stage for what’s next in music creation. Whether you’re scoring films, producing chart-toppers, or just starting your first track, Splice and Spitfire Audio remain dedicated to helping you find better ways to bring your ideas to life.
