Because multiple pieces of equipment are involved, recording vocals properly for the first time might feel like an intimidating process.
However, it doesn’t need to be—in the tutorial video above, we walk through the complete process of recording vocals, from reviewing the roles of each piece of gear to assembling everything and connecting your microphone to your DAW. While we’ll specifically be using the Sontronics STC-3X recording bundle (which includes a condenser microphone, shock mount, pop shield, and XLR cable) and Logic Pro X, the concepts covered are applicable for all sorts of microphones, interfaces, and DAWs if you’ve already gathered your own equipment.
By the time you’re done with the tutorial, you should have a better understanding of how to go about recording vocals for your own music. That said, do you have any questions about a particular topic that was covered? Is there a specific technique you’d like to see us explore next? Let us know in the comments section of the video.
