Three Wave Analog Rhythm Boxes

Featured story

How we recorded Three Wave’s dusty drum machines

Capturing the character of Three Wave’s classic drum machines may seem like it would be simple to anyone who’s never done it, but it’s exactly the opposite. In order to effectively transmit the warmth of their analogue circuitry to Three Wave’s sample pack for Splice, the recording chain took some dialing in. Here’s what we used:

Rhythm boxes:

  • Acetone FR3
  • Gibson Maestro MK2
  • Korg KR33

Pack includes Acetone FR3 Kontakt Softsynth (20 presets)

Splice engineered a Kontakt instrument that uses the architecture of the Acetone FR3 to pitch the sounds in this pack. Download the free instrument to make your own melodic material.
