A spiritual instrument in every capacity
To create this pack, we partnered with Kosmik Music, an independent music label and direct-to-consumer website based in Chennai, India. Their objective is to spread access to Indian classical music and associated art forms, inform, and entertain one and all in equal measure.
In India, music began and continues to serve as an integral part of socio-religious life and culture. For the people of India, music is a pathway to the Gods, a sacred channel. Kosmik Music explained, “All the great musical masters saw deity in each raga, composition, or swara, worshipping them equally. This tradition has been passed on from teacher to student and from parent to child.”
We’re honored to have had the opportunity to capture and share the talent and passion of folk musicians in India (in the southeast state of Andhra Pradesh). We hope you use these sounds in your productions, furthering access to the rich tapestry of Indian music. The sounds in this pack were recorded in India on a Neumann m149 and 148 through an API preamp with an Apogee converter.
