Emo Samples

Emo samples center on clean and overdriven electric guitar loops, palm-muted chord progressions, driving drum fills, and song structures that move between introspective verses and explosive choruses. The genre grew out of the Washington D.C. hardcore scene in the mid-1980s as bands like Rites of Spring pushed punk and indie rock toward more confessional lyricism and melodic intensity. A second wave in the late 1990s and early 2000s brought the sound to mainstream audiences, and its guitar textures have since been widely sampled in trap, cloud rap, and hyperpop production.
