MNDR on her noise music roots, writing “Vroom Vroom” with Charli XCX, and more

Amanda Warner, better known as MNDR, is a GRAMMY-winning songwriter, producer, and electro pop artist.

With collaborators including the likes of Charli XCX, Calvin Harris, Mark Ronson, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, AlunaGeorge, Carly Rae Jepsen, Madonna, Stray Kids, and TOKiMONSTA—to name a few—MNDR’s songwriting and production talents have shaped music across genres, geographies, and generations.

In the above installment of Ctrl+B, we had the unique opportunity to sit down with MNDR for an in-depth discussion on the full breadth of her career, from her roots in the experimental noise music scene to becoming one of pop’s most in-demand writers. Join us to hear her exclusive insights into the sessions that resulted in tracks like “Bang Bang Bang,” “Vroom Vroom,” and “GO LIVE.”

“I am nuanced, and I’m not going to change that,” MNDR says as she reflects on her career and considers where she’s headed next. “For a good 15 years, I felt like I was on top of a building, watching and waiting for the moment where I felt like I could be a part of this forward zeitgeist and not hide, because I really didn’t know how to be MNDR as a two-dimensional, five-second thing. I don’t know how to be that, because I’m not just one thing.”
