Ian Maciak is a Pennsylvania-based recording artist, drummer, and producer specializing in electronic music styles. With twenty years of percussion experience, he's worked alongside artists such as ALZRN CRMSN (Beacon), Micah Jasper (Rebecca Black), Jonathan Maron, Travis Stewart (Machinedrum), Onlyruin, Tigran Hamasyan, Tony Grey, Shigeto, 88Katanas and drums/produces for his solo project 'Trachuk' on the Queens, New York-based label Mechanical Official.
How did you get into drumming, and who are your inspirations?
I got into playing drums after a few years of being involved in the school system orchestra and marching band programs. I started by teaching myself how to play, then took lessons for my last few high school years.
My inspirations for drumming aren't other drummers but producers, DJs, and electronic musicians. I am heavily inspired by early 90's Jungle, UK Garage, Footwork, and many more experimental IDM artists.
What can people expect from the sample pack, and what inspired it?
For the Good Looking Breaks pack, I wanted to be true to my favourite rhythms of early 90s jungle/DNB. This pack has plenty of classic breaks that moulded that era's sound while offering fresh takes on those timeless beats. It includes slower dry breaks ready to be pitched up and tons of at-tempo, heavier processed acoustic drums perfect for dragging and dropping into a session.
