"From the Studio to the Dance Floor" — A Sit Down with Erb N Dub
Known for his high-energy 4 deck, scratch-laden DJ sets and earth-shattering production, Erb N Dub (Peter Chapman) is an artist consistently going from strength to strength—over fifteen years of global shows, chart-topping releases and major sponsorship deals. In this interview we ask him about his unique sound and approach to making this sample pack.
How would you describe your sound?
Energetic. When I’m writing music if it's not making me vibe out I’m not in it. It’s all about transferring energy from the studio to the dance floor.
What was the inspiration behind the pack?
I designed the pack so it was ready to use. Yes, the sounds can be pushed/processed more but I wanted to design a pack that was a go-to for killer sounds. The presets were also designed as an almost "Essentials" pack. Lots of useful sounds ready to use and or mangle. So the inspiration was really a pack I would use myself. No fillers!
How do you hope producers use the sounds in your pack?
I hope they use these sounds to make killer music! One of the bass Serum presets has already been used by a huge dnb act and the track is currently in the UK national chart top ten. It's smashed it! This is exactly what this pack was designed for — to cut out some of the process of sound design and focus on making sick music!
What piece of advice do you give to yourself starting out in music?
Keep it simple. You can do so much with a few Splice samples and presets. You don’t need everything that’s out there. Keep it basic and focus on the songwriting!
