Our Interview w/ Blinders
Tell us about yourself — what led you to production and creating samples?
I started out as a producer searching for my own sonic language — something that could express what I feel, even when words fall short. Over time, I naturally began crafting my own samples, first just for myself so I could work with truly unique sounds. Eventually, the idea grew that these sounds could also be useful to others. With this pack, I followed my own style and creative flow, while keeping a strong focus on usability — for both producers looking for instant inspiration and those who prefer building everything from scratch.
What inspired the sounds included in this sample pack?
I wanted to capture the spirit of my own productions — the sounds I usually create — and expand them into creative loops and a wide range of one-shots. You’ll find aggressive, sharp synths that work perfectly for drops, alongside ethereal atmospheres, textured song starters, and spacious elements. The main inspiration was versatility: creating tools that offer a wide angle of use, no matter the genre or style.
What do you hope the Splice community will do with these sounds?
I hope everyone who grabs this pack uses it in their own way — that the samples become a starting point for something new. Whether you’re making pop, techno, ambient, or hip-hop, these sounds are designed to fit into many different worlds. Add them to your library, flip them into something wild, and make them your own. If they help you create something that genuinely excites you, that’s the best reward I could ask for.
Do you have any advice for other musicians who want to move into sample creation?
Create the sounds you wish you could find but haven’t yet. It’s not about following trends — it’s about building your own sound. Stay curious, experiment, resample, and don’t be afraid of imperfections. Often, those imperfections are what make a sound feel alive. Pay attention to texture and space, and remember: samples aren’t just sounds — they’re a storytelling tool. Sometimes one well-crafted one-shot can spark an entire track.
