How to use acapellas to improve your production chops

Have you ever tried using acapellas to inspire new ideas before?

Making a beat around an acapella can allow you to craft unique chord progressions and melodies you may have not come up with otherwise, while preventing the production from becoming too complicated or over-the-top. In the tutorial video above, we walk through how you can add acapellas to your tracks, and demonstrate the creative process for making music around them. We use Splice Sounds, Beatmaker, and Astra in FL Studio to generate our ideas, but you can use any DAW and plugins of your choosing.

Do you have any questions on a particular topic or technique covered in the video? What would you like to see us tackle on our YouTube channel next? Let us know in the comments section of the video.
