Making a beat at 20 BPM (free stems and MIDI files included)

Today, we’re taking slowing things down to the next level.

In the video above, we explore how we might go about making a track at a gentle (to say the least) 20 BPM. While the idea of a 20 BPM track might sound silly, setting our DAW to such a drastically slow tempo can help us generate new ideas and be intentional with how we approach our rhythms, harmonies, and melodies.

Check out our creative process and the resulting track – it just might inspire you to slow things down too. If you’d like to use sounds from our project as a starting point, we’ve made the stems and MIDI files available for download here.
