Jonathan Manness is a trumpet player and composer in Los Angeles. He’s toured with Mexican pop stars Gloria Trevi and Alejandra Guzmán to sold-out arenas across the US, Mexico, and South America. He’s recorded for CeeLo Green, Magic Mike Live, Alex Sparrow, among others, and works with songwriters and producers in every genre.
Jon led a weekly RADIOHEAD + JAZZ residency in Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood that combined instrumental Radiohead covers with jazz standards, which he has brought over to Twitch during the pandemic. He formed The Red Line Horns, a three-piece horn section that works with a number of recording and touring artists.
As a film composer, Jon’s first LA gig was scoring AVATAR Extended Blu-ray special feature “The Night Before AVATAR.” Since then, he’s written advertising music for Microsoft, composed concert pieces for the US ARMY and public schools, and scored over a dozen independent films. In television, Jon’s music has appeared on CBS, TLC, Bravo, and PBS.
As an educator, Jon has taught film scoring and composition courses at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA). He also visits music programs around the country as a clinician, including The Primavera Fund’s Sterling Masterclass Series in Philadelphia, PA.
