Popular blocky sandbox game Minecraft is close to 54 million copies sold across all platforms, claims Mojang's Patrick Geuder, who also added via Twitter that the console (Xbox 360 and PS3) versions of the game have exceeded sales of the PC and Mac versions. The game will be available on Xbox One, PS4 or Vita in August. The Vita version of the game is Cross-Buy compatible and is free for users who own the PS3 version. Xbox One and PS4 owners who have the game installed on Xbox 360 or PS3 will be able download the new-gen versions for $5.

The alpha version of Minecraft was released in May 2009. minecraft parkour servers was two years prior to its full release in November 2011. Mojang and creator Markus "Notch" Persson have celebrated many sales milestones since then, most recently noting that 15 million copies of the PC version were sold as of April. The Xbox 360 version sold 12 million copies, while the Pocket Edition for iOS or Android was 21 million copies. [Image: Mojang]
