How to obtain the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft for no cost! (Mojang News post)

This seems like an unintentional posting. There is no redeem button on the Mojang account pages as of right now. I assume it'll be there tomorrow upon launch.

edit: The redeem button has appeared for me and many others! You can try it out!

Works for me:

What a shame for their support department.

I get to the redeem button on Microsoft's billing and account page However, it states there is an error. Is there a time limit for redemption for this redemption?

Windows 10 is being rolled out "today"/"tomorrow" depending on where you are. The button should be accessible at 12:01 Wednesday morning Sweden time.

Also not seeing a Redeem button. Minecraft-server.Co 'm looking forward to tomorrow!

For those who require Windows 10:

Manual installation now available.

Direct Links

32bit exe

64bit exe

If you have an addon that forces https, open it in ie because the link is only http.

Instructions:

Download the application.

Once you have it running, follow the steps, it will let you format a USB drive or disk to run the installation.

Start the installer from the drive where you installed it.

It will install and activate automagically.

You can also save an ISO to be used later however, you must perform an in-place update to ensure that your key is activated.

I have installed the beta and it is confirmed to be working and is free.

It was just delivered to me. It's amazing how well-optimized the game is. My computer's fans don’t bother to turn on and the CPU runs nearly idle all the time.

Are there gameplay differences?

If it's running flawlessly on mobile, you'd expect it to perform pretty well on PC too :)

4 more responses

Just received it. 22% CPU and 200MB on singleplayer LOL. #NEXTGEN anyways, there is some noticeable mouse delay when looking around, otherwise looks great. I wish we could tweak a few more settings such as AA and Mip-Mapping. Textures get mushy with time and the water glare can be a bit weird. Apart from that, great port guys :) Now I can play with my Xbox friends .

there is a noticeable mouse delay looking around, but overall it looks great

I've noticed the same issue, mouse acceleration seems to be odd as well.

It's an unstable port at the present moment. It runs on C++, so it runs very smooth. It needs to be improved to be compatible with the PC players. It currently seems like a mobile game.

I apologize if this seems like a dumb question. But how did you get Windows 10? Did some people get Windows 10 early?
