To celebrate the show\u2019s final season, we show you how you can create your own dragon roar. For this exercise, one of our product designers was kind enough to let us sample Zoe, his French Bulldog.<\/p>\n<p>Check out our walkthrough video to see the full process:<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Game of Thrones - Transforming a Dog Bark into a Dragon Roar\" width=\"370\" height=\"208\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g58kxlIjnVI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve also highlighted some key takeaways from the video below.<\/p>\n<h2>The pre\/post-roar gurgle<\/h2>\n<p>I decided to break up the roar into 2 main groups: <strong>pre\/post-roar gurgle<\/strong> and the <strong>main roar<\/strong>. For the gurgling that happens before and after the roar, it was important to use the <strong>Sustain<\/strong> <strong>mode<\/strong> in Ableton to make the gurgling last longer.<\/p>\n<p>Using the Sustain mode is one of the best ways to make creative sounds from sampling, and it can even get into the realm of <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/intro-granular-synthesis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">granular synthesis<\/a> if you set the loop braces short enough. The other main technique was time stretching it to create a longer sustain, since Zoe\u2019s barks were pretty short.
