He also delved into modern acts including electronic-jazz-funk band Jamiroquai and avant-pop band Stereolab.<\/p>\n<p><em>Our \u201cAround the World with Jay Dee\u201d series is powered in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whosampled.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WhoSampled.com,<\/a> the world\u2019s largest community for fans of sampled music, cover songs, and remixes.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>The U.K.<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Busta Rhymes&#8217; &#8220;Show Me What You Got&#8221; samples Stereolab\u2019s \u201cCome and Play in the Milky Night.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/music\/2016\/02\/j-dilla-essentials-guide-the-afterlife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Speaking on Jay Dee in the outro to the <em>Dillagence<\/em> beat tape<\/a>, Busta Rhymes said, \u201cHe was always the one producer that was always able to find that pocket in terms of how the beat felt, that the average producer was never able to find\u2026 He was just one that was always able to capture that zone that felt like it was always right, and it can never be wrong.\u201d Sampling Stereolab, an English-French avant-pop group, he interpolates the intro to \u201cCome and Play in the Milky Night,\u201d slowing it down and lowering it a few semitones. The twangy strum of the guitars now churns into a washed out drone, while still retaining the groovy bassline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI identify with the way they make music,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/musicismthought.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/22\/stereolab2008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Gane of Stereolab said of hearing his music sampled.<\/a> \u201cRather than a band that makes songs. Like them, I tend to pick and mix. And he laughs and goes \u2018Man, I\u2019ve been through all the jazz and R&amp;B sections already &#8211; I\u2019ve been through every album you\u2019ve got!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Jay Dee&#8217;s taste became more eclectic, he ventured into genres like British rock and prog. One such example is David Essex, an English singer and artist. The band was one of the more contemporary acts that Jay Dee sourced from &#8211; he sampled their work multiple times.
