{"id":39886,"date":"2026-03-20T15:01:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T19:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/?p=39886"},"modified":"2026-03-30T17:18:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T21:18:38","slug":"kshmr-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/kshmr-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"KSHMR talks producing for Justin Bieber and Beyonc\u00e9, making sample packs, and more"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before he was selling out main stages at Coachella and Tomorrowland, Niles Hollowell-Dhar\u2014better known as KSHMR\u2014was quietly writing hits for some of the biggest names in music.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>He eventually stepped out of the shadows to build one of the most distinctive sounds in electronic music, and went on to release <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/sounds\/search\/packs?filepath=kshmr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his landmark <em>Sounds of KSHMR<\/em> sample pack series on Splice Sounds<\/a>\u2014which now spans five volumes and continues to set the gold standard for producer tools worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/4z68GgstrkZfWOVLa6sR3I?si=ae57cf9116b2480e\" width=\"100%\" height=\"80\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In celebration of the long-anticipated release of <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/sounds\/labels\/dharma-studio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Sounds of KSHMR Vol.5<\/em>,<\/a> we had the unique opportunity to sit down with KSHMR for our latest <em><a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/tag\/ctrlb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ctrl+B<\/a><\/em> interview. Join us as he discusses his experiences working with the likes of Justin Bieber and Beyonc\u00e9, his learnings that he derived from failure, how he carved his own lane in EDM, his love for film scores, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I think I&#8217;d want my legacy to be important to the people who were important me and the thing that was important to me, which is what we&#8217;ve been talking about all day\u2014it&#8217;s the creation of music,&#8221; KSHMR says as we conclude the interview. &#8220;It&#8217;s the one last piece of magic that none of us understand, but we all agree on. And if I can do that a little bit myself, and lot of it by helping people with a piece to their puzzle to make their song, that&#8217;s it. That&#8217;s what I set out to do. That&#8217;s what saved me in this life and gave me my identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Music offers people all around the world an identity from this normal drudge of life; it offers them a chance at Willy Wonka&#8217;s golden ticket. Not just the riches and the fame, but the <em>feeling<\/em>. It&#8217;s like, all day you get beat up, maybe doing a job you don&#8217;t love, but you could put on a song\u2014or better yet, even make a song\u2014that makes you feel lightning in a bottle. That&#8217;s what this is all about. You need the money. You got to live. We all need money. I&#8217;m not trying to downplay it, but that feeling and that emotion, no matter how much money you get, is going to be what you&#8217;re going for every time.
