In this blogpost, I&#8217;ll list some of the lesser known (and probably more useful) functions of the Pro-C2 that aren&#8217;t as common as some of the big-name compressors out there. These added functionalities make the Pro-C2 worth every cent you pay for.<\/p>\n<h2>#1. Furthermore, with a fixed ratio and auto-knee setting, it makes compressing your vocal a pretty painless process.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mastering<\/strong>: I use this a lot for pre-mastering my tracks as it is clean, transparent and introduces almost no harmonic distortion. It works well when\u00a0<a href=\"#oversampling\"><strong>oversampling<\/strong><\/a> turned on.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Punch:\u00a0<\/strong>Reminds me a lot of the SSL Buss Compressor. Great to add traditional analog style punch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>#2. Mix Mode<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3042 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01.png\" alt=\"fab-filter-pro-c2-2\" width=\"905\" height=\"256\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01.png 1688w, https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01-300x85.png 300w, https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01-768x217.png 768w, https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01-1024x290.png 1024w, https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-14.57.01-1200x340.png 1200w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 905px) 100vw, 905px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 905px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 905\/256;\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In most compressors, the mix mode knob adjusts the ratio between the dry (uncompressed, 0%) and wet (compressed, 100%) signal.<\/li>\n<li>However, in FabFilter&#8217;s Pro-C2, the mix mode allows you to go beyond 100% further adding compression and super-charging the\u00a0overall compression\u00a0on your signal.<\/li>\n<li>This setting came in handy when I wanted to mangle some drum room mics to squeeze out some unique timbral qualities out of it.<\/li>\n<li>Furthermore, you can\u00a0<strong>automate<\/strong> the mix mode percentage to be in sync with different sections of your song &#8211; very cool!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>#3. This allows the compressor to have greater dynamic headroom when processing content that is generally more active with fast transients or sudden changes.<\/li>\n<li>Turn oversampling on when applying compression on high-dynamic content such as drums, master buss compression, even active bass lines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>#6.
