Above, veteran music producer and DJ <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/author\/devon-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Devon Johnson<\/a> walks through how to arrange chopped samples to reference their distinctive style in your own productions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devon begins by using <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/sounds\/create\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Create mode<\/a> to find samples that fit the aesthetic he&#8217;s aiming for. From there, he breaks down how he went about chopping and spacing out sounds in the timeline in Ableton. And lastly, he glues everything together via some pitch editing, sound design, mixing, and <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/how-to-use-parallel-compression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parallel compression.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Create mode unlocked the ability to find matching samples quickly,&#8221; Devon says. &#8220;It took me about five minutes to find the inspiration I needed via Stacks\u2014but the real work happens in the DAW, when you&#8217;re experimenting, chopping, processing, and arranging.
