This week we had an opportunity to catch up with Simon Sundstr\u00f6m, also known as\u00a0SwS<\/strong><\/a>.<\/b>\u00a0We asked him to tell us about his release “Breathe<\/a>”\u00a0<\/b>and to show us how Splice fits into his production workflow.<\/p>\n

What inspired you to share this track with the Splice community?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Splice is the platform where I upload most of my work and this track is a remix of a track in the community, so I thought it would be nice to upload my remix here too.<\/p>\n

Tell us about your approach to writing and production. Any favorite sample packs or plugins?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It often starts with me playing on my acoustic piano and improvising till I find something that I like. Then I move to the studio and I experiment with different sounds on my Nord Electro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Next I will move on to building the drop in my DAW. There are many ways to start a project but this is the most common way for me. I love KSHMR<\/strong> so when I heard that he had released a sample pack<\/strong> I instantly downloaded it, I also use Vengeance but I don\u2019t like it as much as KSHMR\u00b4s<\/strong> sample pack even though his sample pack is free.<\/p>\n

Sylenth1<\/strong> is definitely my favorite plugin because I like the simplicity and how easy it is to create a sound that I like. And of course, I like Waves<\/strong> very much too.<\/p>\n

\"splice-sws-2\"<\/p>\n

You\u2019re primarily a Logic X\u00a0user. What is it about Logic X\u00a0that makes it your DAW of choice?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I love Logic and don’t think I will change but I’ll maybe get FL Studio in the future but only if I collaborate with someone that uses FL Studio or open a FL project.<\/p>\n

How has Splice had an impact on your production process or workflow?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I discovered Splice by accident right when I started producing music and I really don’t think I would’ve come this far without Splice. Actually I’m not sure I would even be producing music if it hadn\u2019t been for Splice. I got positive feedback already on my first track which was very inspiring. Even though I now realize that it was really bad so I’ve deleted it now.<\/p>\n

What are your influences at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I play the piano and take lessons once a week. I’m learning everything from jazz to house and I\u00b4m trying to widen my musical knowledge as much as I can. I’ve even played the cello when I was younger and I also play the drums. I also sing in the Stockholm Boys Choir. My dad sings and play guitar too so I have quite a lot of experience and influences from the acoustic world which I’m now trying to combine with my electronic side of music.<\/p>\n

You’ve had quite a few users in the community Splice the project file for “Breathe<\/a>” – what do you hope that they’ll do with it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I hope they can improve it and I\u00b4ve already had two guys that have, Ayron Wheel<\/strong> and Martin Fox<\/strong>. This is a remix so you can\u00b4t really remix it but all improvements are welcome.<\/p>\n

Where do you think that you music is headed next?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

My next step in music I hope can be to blend in acoustics instruments in my electronic music, I’m also looking for a good vocalist and lyric writers so if you are one or both, don’t hesitate to contact me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
