{"id":16930,"date":"2021-06-18T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-18T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/?p=16930"},"modified":"2026-02-13T13:08:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T18:08:47","slug":"boom-bap-10-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/boom-bap-10-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"How to make a boom bap beat in 10 minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working under a time constraint when producing music can be a great way to hone your workflow and build confidence in your creative decisions.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video above, we took this idea to the test by \u2018speedrunning\u2019 a boom bap track in under ten minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We kicked off the challenge by using the <a aria-label=\"Splice Beatmaker (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/how-to-use-splice-beatmaker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Splice Beatmaker<\/a> to record and perform a classic boom bap rhythm. From there, we loaded up Arutria&#8217;s <a aria-label=\"Emulator II V (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/plugins\/38946150-v-collection-8-vst-au-by-arturia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emulator II V<\/a> to track some string stabs, and supported those with a sub bassline. Lastly, we topped off our beat with some samples we quickly auditioned using <a aria-label=\"Splice Bridge, (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/blog\/how-to-use-splice-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Splice Bridge,<\/a> and gave the whole composition a vintage atmosphere with some gritty vinyl noise from XLN Audio&#8217;s <a aria-label=\"RC-20 Retro Color. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/plugins\/20283103-rc-20-retro-color-vst-au-by-xln-audio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RC-20 Retro Color.<\/a> Throughout the whole process, the effects plugins from Arturia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/splice.com\/plugins\/39137167-fx-collection-5-vst-au-by-arturia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FX Collection<\/a> were indispensable in allowing us to mold our sounds on the fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you think we did?
